Effective Cardio Training
Cardio training focuses on increasing your heart rate and burning fat. Cardio training will not help you generate a large amount of strength. Aerobics is a great example of cardio training. Anything that increases your heart rate can be considered cardio training. If you walk up the stairs and your heart rate increases, that could be considered cardio training, but to get the best results, you want to do an activity were you break a sweat and can feel your heart rate increasing substantially.
I used to teach tennis and instead of running sprints, we would play a game called “Flys Up.” It involved continually running from one side of the court to another chasing down balls I would hit really high, and then playing a point off of that ball I hit. The point is that a cardio workout can be fun. Basketball is cardio training as is soccer and ultimate Frisbee. There are a lot of great ways to get cardio training. You just want to make sure you are continually moving while doing cardio training, because it is not only about getting your heart rate up, but sustaining that raised heart rate for quite some time.
