There are various mediums to get an online education. Some schools simply have you buy textbooks and then they test you on them. Other schools utilize virtual classrooms and video chat. The most effective way I have found is through the use of discussion boards. The professor proposes a topic, and it is up to the students to create a discussion about the subject. It is better than chatting because you can take time to think of an excellent response, and it gives everyone the opportunity to speak, unlike teleconferences or video chat.
