Are dogs wired to be “good” or “bad?”

Many people are quick to assess whether or not they have a “good” dog or a “bad” dog. They think that it is simply wired into the dog to bark, be hyperactive, and chew on their shoes. This really isn’t the case most of the time. Dogs need attention, and if you are not giving it to them, they will rebel. If your dog is hyper and barking, it is probably because you have not taken them outside for a walk or played fetch all day. Dogs can get restless quickly, and they will bark it out. Next, if you simply put a shock collar on to stop them from barking as much, they will find some other way to try and get attention like chewing. If you cannot give your dog a certain amount of time everyday, you may want to reconsider if owning a dog is right for you.
