Woods Media Escapade
Early last Friday morning Tiger Woods slammed into a fire hydrant and tree outside his home. It was only 2:25 a.m. but ever since the media has been going nuts. Preceding this event, the media has gone easy on Woods because there’s never been anything to report except his victories.
As the youngest golfer to win a career grand slam the media has had a love affair with him. It seems that he could never do anything wrong. However, there were stories of erratic behavior but none of them were printed. But it seems now Woods might not survive the media storm.
Since the accident authorities have been wanting to talk to Tiger but after one excuse and then another, the golfer still won’t meet with them. Authorities have tried to speak with him three times and it has yet to happen which begs the question why won’t Woods talk to them and what doesn’t he want them and America to know? What is really going on here?
To start off with Woods was leaving his house at 2:25 a.m. which seems like a strange hour for a married man and father of two children to be speeding off to who knows where. Then the fact that his wife extracted him from the car with a 7-iron is also raising some questions. Why would two windows be shattered in the back of the car if she were only attempting to get Woods out after the accident? Why would she smash the back windows instead of one closer to him?
Some are wondering if his wife chased him out of the house with the iron. Then it’s followed by the fact that everyone says Woods is in good condition? Initially the story was the wife got him out of the car with the iron but it took Woods spokesman 13 hours to even come up with that story.
Then there are other stories floating around about Rachel Uchitel. There are allegations that he is having an affair with her and that she was in Melbourne, Australia with him. In response to these allegations she stated that she resented her reputation was "getting completely blasted in the media…Everyone is assuming I came out and said this. This is not a story I have anything to do with." This statement doesn’t answer anything. If she thought she was doing Woods a favor she was wrong. This only brings more questions because she didn’t deny an affair was going on.
There are so many conflicting stories and now Woods is saying that he was alone responsible for the accident and praises his wife and claims the rumors circulating are "false, unfounded and malicious." However, why does he sit and say that this is a private matter? He has taken a very defensive position here and it would have been better if he wouldn’t have said anything. It doesn’t help him or look good. Plus the statement was vague and if it were just an accident then he would have said so but the fact that he didn’t raises even more questions.
Also the authorities are chargin citing him with reckless behavior. Which means officials are also trying to find out what is going on. Then comes the fact that he withdrew from the golf tournament. He claimed that he just had a few scratches and bruises but was in good condition but then he withdrew with the excuse being that his injuries prevented him from playing. So what’s the real reason Woods because even though you had surgery and didn’t play last year in the Chevron World Challenge you still attended the event?
