Strayer University was founded in 1892. In the last decade they have instituted an online program for those students who require the added flexibility offered by these programs. The school offers several degrees in different fields, allowing students to continue working while earning their degree.

Face-to-Face Coursework

Many online programs follow a set schedule for each degree program. Classes follow the same progression and students can log on at their own convenience to work. While this is excellent for those people who need a flexible schedule, it also means that the professors are not always online when they are. Strayer takes their online program to the next level by also offering classes that will allow students to interact directly with classmates and faculty in real time through audio and video support.

The school also offers online tutoring for subjects where a student might be struggling.

Reviews consistently give Strayer high marks for customer service; although some people did feel that the school was a little pricey. The primary goal of an online college is to provide a quality education, and most reviewers felt that it did a good job there. Being an online degree, there is no social life to speak of and very little focus on extracurricular activities. They are also given high marks for being extremely flexible with scheduling and the professors are consistently given praise for their professionalism and how responsive they were to student problems.

Strayer also works with students to actively help them find tuition assistance programs or financing options that can help them pay for college. At this time, Strayer does not offer any doctoral degrees which may leave some people disappointed.

Strayer has full accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The overall quality of their program is high and most students are fully satisfied with the education they receive. One thing to keep in mind when searching for an online degree program is that the student ultimately determines how effective it will be. Any program will require hard work and dedication, but the rewards for that will be great.
