Weight Loss – Can the Acai Berry Help?


A berry from South America has recently become a hot topic. It is known as the Açaí berry and people are claiming they have found the jackpot of weight loss. Celebrities like Oprah Winfrey have endorsed it. People say Açaí berries have unheard of amounts of antioxidants, more than ten times a grape. However, according to recent news articles and Wikipedia, Açaí berries have no more antioxidants than a grape. So why are people losing weight using this berry?

Açaí berries are healthy, but they are not the miracle weight loss product everyone was hoping for. People eat Açaí berries in shakes and in juices, which may be the reason people are losing weight on the product. For instance, instead of eating a meal from the cafeteria, if you bring an Açaí berry shake, you will still be healthier, but not necessarily because of the Açaí berry itself. Eating a lot of any fruit, whether it is grapes, apples, cherries, etc., will most likely be healthy and cause you to lose weight. I believe it is more the fact that people begin to eat more fruit with the Açaí berry diet, than the berry itself.
