I can't agree with you enough. I have 18 to 20 years in the medical health insurance industry. Since relocating to So Brevard Cty in Fl. (6 mos ago) I have not had 1 job interview. As far as I'm concerned they are all just a waste of time. And you start to feel like a middle age failure. I have always had good to excellent reviews, so, why am I not getting aleast a an interview.
I have also unsubscribed to all job web sites.

Taking the shotgun approach to job hunting is an almost total waste of time and effort.

Hiring officals normally do not dig to uncover your skills to match them up with a job opening. They have just to many resumes and to few jobs. So they can be very selective.

A good example is taking a military officer who is leaving the military after 4-5 years or even 20 years. If they write the resume loaded with military jargon, they might only be successful if the resume just happens to land on the desk of someone who had similiar military experience. Indeed a long shot.

But if they draft the resume to closely meet the prospective employer's needs their success rate goes way up.

Do your research, work you network, zero in on the employer's needs and you'll find frequent job interviews. Do your homework on successful job interviewing and that dream job is closer than you think.
