American Idiots

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Idiots abound in the news this week. Usually, I don’t naturally think of Americans as idiots but to be quite honest a lot of them are. For years countries have believed Americans to be arrogant and not the sharpest tool in the shed. Well the more people I run into and the more reality TV I see, the easier it is to understand.

Not to mention the news. One of my favorite sections of online news is the weird news because it always has ridiculously stupid stories that no one cares about but most people can get a laugh out of it. But almost every single time I read it I shake my head and ask myself "Are these people really that stupid? And the answer is pretty consistently: yes.

These people must have a few brain cells that were either killed by drugs or alcohol or else there were way to many cousins intermarrying in their family line. One example of this was in Louisiana. There was a 52-year-old woman who was the guardian to two children ages four and five. The woman sold the two children to a couple for $175 and a cockatoo.

To start off a cockatoo? That’s the most annoying kind of bird you can buy, so I’d rather have the kids than the stupid bird. And second of all $175 is nothing. This lady is on her way to retirdment so she should be saling them for more than $175 and then save it. She could have gotten much more money than that, not to mention the fact that everything about the situation is disturbing and morally wrong. What kind of woman sells two children? But at least they’re out of her hands and in state custody now or until their parents claim them.

Then there was a man in Ohio who’s bank was about to foreclose on his $350,000 home so he bulldozed it. Not only was the man going to lose his house but the ITS had liens on his business so he had no way out. But the fact that he completely knocked his home down out of spite and the fact that he might lose his business is frightening but it only makes things worse. Now he definitely won’t have a job or a home whereas before at least he had a business while he sorted out his IRS problems.

Apparently there are some Americans that are completely insane. And the unfortunate thing is that they probably have children and are passing those genes down to future generations. So as you can see it’s a continuous cycle and it’s no wonder many people think Americans are stupid. Because the people they read and hear about on the news and TV are not a very good representation of who Americans really are.

Woman Bites 1/3 of Sisters Nose Off

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

In Napoleon, Michigan two sisters were bickering and apparently the fighting was escalating. One sister bit a third of her sister’s nose off. Quick somebody put a muzzle on that thing. That is ridiculous and what’s sad is that they’re older. The 27-year-old Bobbie Smith is the one that bit off “a significant portion” of 28-year-old Sandra Smith’s nose during a fight on Sunday. According to the prosecutor Sandra suffered “a major, disfiguring injury.”

According to Bobbie Smith’s attorney both women were intoxicated but this woman was 27 and she knew exactly what she was doing. How could someone do that to anyone let alone a family member? Bobbie acted like an animal that needs to be caged. Police were called to the scene following the incident and were able to recover the bitten off piece of cartilage. The 28-year-old victim went to meet a plastic surgeon at the University of Michigan Hospital, but it is unclear if it will be able to be reattached.

Bobbie was arrested and has been charged with mayhem and domestic violence along with resisting or obstructing an officer and malicious destruction of police property. She had no visible injuries when she was arrested but kicked an officer and caused damage to a patrol car. The 27-year-old is in Jackson county Jail on a $5,000 bond after her arraignment Tuesday.

Mayhem as defined by a 1931 Michigan Law specifically includes mutilating another person’s nose which comes with a maximum 10-year felony. Even though Michigan does have a law including nose biting it isn’t common. Jackson Country Chief Assistant Prosecutor said this type of crime has only come up in his career a few times.

When the woman faced the judge she said, “I am really sorry for what I did. I love my sister.” But then she followed that statement with “Sandra Smith hit her first.” It doesn’t matter who hit who first. The fact is that physically fighting is ridiculous especially for women of this age. Even three year olds know not to get caught up in the moment and bite someone’s nose off.

Hopefully this woman is in jail for a while. This was absurd, out of control and she needs to take anger management classes. Along with the sister that had her nose bit off. After all, it takes two to fight. If it is just one person then a fight can’t go on its abuse. These women seriously need counseling and etiquette lessons. Apparently these women never learned how to resolve conflict without being physical.

Buying Tickets Into Space In A Store. Is It A Deliberate PR Decision Or A Failure?

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Thousands of people are engaged in Space exploration nowadays. Millions of euro are spent in this industry on space exploration. Lots of people dream to get into space and implement their childhood dreams.

Today in Austria tickets/seats for orbital trips can be in an simple shop just for 210 thousand euro. Despite the paradoxically of the situation the experts are assure that the offer is quite real. It is possible to state that it is a successful publicity stunt. Even some years ago it was dreamlike and fabulous. Nevertheless, today it may happen. Those people who are ready to spend nearly 200 000 euro can already book the tickets not very far from their home.

“Milk, bread, butter and a ticket into space, please!” In theory it’s possible to hear this phrase in any Austrian Penny supermarket. The discounter offers its customers to buy tickets for XP Spaceplane provided by Rocketplane Global. Regular flights will be launched by the end of 2011. The launching pad is the cosmodrome in Oklahoma. The tourist will stay in zero gravity condition for about 10 minutes. Although the offer is not new but it is rather tempting. General Representatives of Space Adventures consider that such a short space travel will become a very amazing entertainment. The cost of the trip is just 200 thousand euro. It is not 30 million dollars as for the flight on the international space station. Thus, most probably that the worldwide client base will be rather huge.

However not many people will buy tickets for the Spaceplane in the supermarket because of a discord between the product and the sale place. People, who can really afford to pay for such a flight, don’t visit supermarkets very often. At the same time everyone should acknowledge that it was a mutually beneficial decision for the retailer and for the space tour agency to announce about the project this way. Gossip have reached even Russia and that is the best evidence that the project is already popular. It is a wonderful news occasion to announce about the supermarket to mass-media, thus, it is a wise PR decision which has drawn attention to the project.
Today the ticket cost for Rocketplane Global is 210 thousand euro; the figure is comparable with offers of Virgin Galactic.

specialists consider that by the moment of launching of commercial flights to the orbit, the figure will grow to half a million euro. It is not known if this sum will decline and when exactly it will go down. That’s why it makes sense to wait with hasty investments for those who wish to get into space or to contact an excellent service and implement a his or her childhood dream, get a sophisticated personalized gift and get a free link for the site advertising.

Russia Can Still Manipulate Ex-Soviet States

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Even though it’s been almost 20 years since the Berlin Wall came down Russia still has some power.  Although most eastern european countries embraced Democracy after the collapse of Soviet dominance they are still facing problems when it comes to Russia.

Currently, there is a pipeline planned to run along the bed of the Baltic Sea that will carry Russian gas to Western Europe. While the pipeline pleases western Europeans many easterners are unhappy and worried.

This pipeline could cause a deep wedge between the two sections
formerly separated by the Iron Curtain. On the one hand the pipeline will provide energy benefits to Western Europe but it could also lead to Russian domination of the former Soviet bloc because of gas.

Russia has already divided members of the European Union that vowed to act collectively to protect their security. Currently, the pipeline has to run from Eastern Europe in order to get to Western
Europe. This means that if Russia wants anything, all they need to do is stop pumping gas to the West and there will be immediate pressure oncountries in the east to comply.

This ability provides Russia with greater power because if the east
fails to comply the West will suffer and protests will rage in the
wealthier and more powerful western countries. The fear is Russia
will play pipeline politics with its neighbors.

Gazprom the Russian gas company provides Europe with 28 percent of its natural gas. There is a need for this energy because the North Seas output has declined. Unlike eastern Europeans, Russians believe that the pipeline will unite Europe. Despite the tension in Europe, the E.U. Commission and Parliament did approve the pipeline.

Even though Western Europeans favor the pipeline; former Communist
countries fear Soviet domination once again. These countries were forced into Communism and Soviet dominance after World War II and are leery about becoming vulnerable to the Soviet iron fist. They fear they will fall prey to energy blackmail and western countries will fail to support them because they are reliant on the energy Russia provides.

Just two years ago Russia shut off a similar pipeline that went through Ukraine because of a labor dispute and as a result thousands of homes throughout Central Europe were without heating and many factories had to shut down. It’s this type of incident that has not only Eastern Europeans but also many Western Europeans worried about the future.

The pipeline isn’t finished but has already divided the European Community. With the pipeline Russia will be able to pursue a divide and conquer policy. The struggle over resources is more important than the considerations of European unity.
