Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Do You Want To learn Spanish?

Do you know someone who speaks Spanish? When it comes to Spanish speakers, chances are everyone in California and Texas know one. Statistics give you an idea about that nearly half of all U.S. Hispanics are located in in California and Texas.

It’s safe to assume that as a Southern Californian, at least one in four people is speaking Spanish.

Do you think about learning Spanish or any of the other languages? Learning another language offers many advantages, and if you are a U.S. resident, learning Spanish may help your daily life more than you recognize.

With the internet expanding, large businesses and small businesses alike seek Spanish speakers. As a person who speaks a second language fluently you have the ability to speak to customers in that language, by this means expanding your prospective customer basis. As an employee, what´s your benefit here? Employers comprehend this as beneficial, which can as well indicate a higher pay. If you previously both speak Spanish and English and are not being rewarded by your employer, I would propose that you consider the idea of searching a new job. Your qualification might be worth a lot more in salary than you think!

If you like to take a trip and visit foreign countries you might have experienced that it is much easier to get around when you are familiar with a bit of the language spoken. Inhabitants in that foreign country also have the tendency to welcome strangers in a different way who show curiosity in their language. You might also know that street vendors use to boost their prices for tourists, chiefly once they understand you don’t speak their language. Knowing the language will help you obtain beneficial treatment, which can have the effect of lower prices and better overall service.

Likewise better prices when you travel to predominately Spanish speaking countries, you will also build up a better cultural understanding. How many magazines have you glanced at in your lifetime that inspire (and educate) your opinion and understanding of your own culture? Now imagine of how much culture you will experience by just being able to read Spanish books and the media; a new approach of thinking and feeling will be exposed to you.

One more great reason to learn to speak Spanish is that it is simple to learn. Spanish and English vocabularies are very similar. What is more, Spanish is very easy to read – even for a beginner.

Do you like helping people? If so, after you have learned Spanish, you will be better equipped to aid people in your daily life all thanks to your capability to correspond in at least two languages. The good will goes both ways: you can inquire for help from people that you ordinarily couldn’t speak to.

Last not least do not forget that it can be a lot of fun to learn something new regardless what you intend to do with it. Learning Spanish online with your whole family participating in the process certainly has a few more benefits on the social side of life that should not be underestimated.

Rocket Japanese Review

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

You have probably happened to see advertisements for Rocket Japanese, a program which is claimed to be able to teach you Japanese quick. These ads probably got you a little curious, but you wouldn’t like to spend your money without knowing what you are getting yourself into. This article will start by describing what you should get to know with each component of the program and finish by reviewing the whole program .

The program comprises 6 “components.” The first component is a 31 lesson interactive audio course, these lessons cover common words and phrases to help you get around using public transportation and aids in helping you participate in the community. While this is usual stuff for a language program, most programs do not provide transcripts of the terms from the audio tracks, and here they are in both English and Japanese. This is a nice addition as most programs are not concerned with teaching you to read or write in Japanese, focusing solely on the conversation .

Component 2 comprises grammar and cultural lessons. These lessons will help you to know when and how to apply certain phrases, including how to act while saying the phrase. This is a one more nice bonus , as it will aid to you become part of the culture you are dealing with more simply .

Component 3 is a vocabulary software game. This is pretty much just an interactive version of flash cards, but this interactivity makes it a lot more fun and helps to retain the knowledge.

Component 4 is another game, but this time it is an audio game designed to make you remember more than thousand Japanese words. This is a very nice feature, as most ways of learning Japanese don’t help you much to pronounce the words or help you see when you are mispronouncing them , this is typically from a full audio course or a class.

Component 5 teaches writing in Japanese, with another game. This game shows you a character and asks you to pick the word on the right side that corresponds with the character. As said above , most programs focus on communicating Japanese, so this is a great plus.

Component 6 is a learner’s forum where you can get help from somebody else studying Japanese or from the Rocket Japanese staff. That’s nice, but it isn’t actually anything special as there are numerous free forums that can provide the same help .

As understand now I indeed enjoy the Rocket Japanese course thanks to the interactive games which help take out some of the monotony of learning another language, and also thanks to the focus placed on reading and writing in Japanese properly .
